Swinging Flies in the dead of Winter on the San Juan

Winter on the San Juan is about as close to solitude as many anglers will ever see. Below freezing morning temps are the norm and removing the ice from your rod guides becomes routine. The mid day sun will warm you and you will know when it's about to set! On most days the fish are very active and not too picky about your choice of fly. The trout will chase a swung fly for they rarely see this presentation.
